Privacy Policy

A keepsake made from what remains asks for trust before it asks for anything else. This page is where we explain, plainly, what we do with the information — and the memories — you share with us.

The short version

What information this website collects

Newsletter signup. If you enter your email address in the “Be the first to hear from Petmento” form, we collect that email address to send you occasional updates. We only use it for that. You can unsubscribe at any time, and doing so removes you from future emails.

Enquire Now form. If you send us an enquiry about a design, we collect your email address and your message, along with the name of the design you asked about (so we don’t have to ask you to repeat it). We use this only to reply to your enquiry.

Website analytics. We use Microsoft Clarity, a free analytics tool, to understand how visitors move through this site — which pages are visited, where people click, roughly how long a visit lasts. Clarity masks sensitive on-page content by default and does not tell us who you are personally. See “Cookies and analytics” below for how to control this.

Account pages. The Sign In and Create an Account pages on this site are a preview of a feature we haven’t built yet. Nothing you type into those pages is saved, stored, or sent anywhere — there is no account system behind them yet. We’ll update this policy before that changes.

What we don’t collect, ever, on this website: payment card numbers, bank details, passwords, or any other financial information. We have no checkout on this site — every order and every payment happens on Etsy’s own secure checkout at petmento.etsy.com, governed by Etsy’s own privacy policy and payment security standards, not ours.

Your pet’s remains and keepsake materials

Some Petmento pieces are made using ashes, fur, hair, or nail clippings you send us after placing an order on Etsy. We want to be completely clear about what happens to them, even though — as explained below — this isn’t something data protection law like GDPR actually governs, since it concerns your pet’s remains, not personal data about you.

Here’s what happens in plain terms: once your order is placed on Etsy, we’ll walk you through exactly how to send us the material safely. We use what’s needed to make your piece, and anything left over is carefully packaged and returned to you along with your finished keepsake. We treat what you send us the way we’d want our own family’s keepsake treated — with care, and never for anything beyond making your piece.

A brief note on why this section reads a little differently from the rest of this policy: privacy law (GDPR, Australia’s Privacy Act, and similar) protects information about identifiable people — an email address, a name, a message. It doesn’t legally apply to your pet’s ashes or fur the same way, because that material isn’t data about a person. We’re telling you what happens to it anyway, because we think you deserve to know, not because a regulation requires us to. The order details, your address, and anything you tell us about your pet when you place your order are handled through Etsy’s own messaging and shipping systems, under Etsy’s privacy policy — not through this website.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses Microsoft Clarity, which may set cookies or use similar local storage to recognize your browser across a visit and record anonymized session behavior for the purposes described above. If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal, we honor it by not loading Clarity for your visit. You can also block or clear cookies at any time through your browser’s own settings.

Your rights

If you’re in the European Union or United Kingdom, you have the right to ask us what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted, and you can withdraw newsletter consent at any time. If you’re in Australia, the same principles apply under the Australian Privacy Principles — you can ask what we hold and request it be corrected or deleted. To make any of these requests, email us at [email protected] and we’ll respond within a reasonable time.

We don’t sell personal information to anyone, in any jurisdiction, at any time.

How long we keep things

We keep newsletter and enquiry emails only as long as needed to do what you asked us to (send updates, answer your question) or until you ask us to delete them, whichever comes first. Analytics data is retained according to Microsoft Clarity’s own retention settings, which by default is a rolling window, not indefinite storage.

Changes to this policy

If how we collect or use information changes — for example, once our newsletter or enquiry forms go live with a real provider, or if we build the account feature referenced above — we’ll update this page and change the date at the top.
